The discipline of legal methodology (ʿilm al-uṣūl) has been developed to provide general rules for inference in jurisprudence. The importance of these rules varies in terms of application; sometimes a discussion or a rule is brought up in the science of legal methodology, which, in turn, gives rise to other issues and rules. Consequently, the discussion surrounding these propositions will gain more momentum. The discussion regarding the "principality of sensation" (iṣālat al-ḥiss) that is raised in connection with the authoritativeness of solitary reports is one of the cases in which the application of the Principle of Sensation has been investigated. The aim is to make itclear that relying on this Principle is helpful and effective in inferring religious propositions not to mention the fact that addressing this issue in this way is a new and innovative research.
