The comparative assessment of jurisprudential principles and practical principles has been prevalent in the books of principles since Sheikh Anṣārī. One such issue is the relationship between the principle of al-qurʿa (drawing lots) and practical principles, which has been a matter of disagreement among scholars. Considering the various implications of the precedence of one over the other and the type of precedence, this study aims to re-examine this relationship by analyzing and critiquing the opinions of prominent scholars. The findings of this research, presented for the first time, provide a detailed analysis of this comparative assessment. Although practical principles precede the principle of drawing lots in legal uncertainties, in factual uncertainties, sometimes the principle of drawing lots precedes practical principles and vice versa.
