Betty formulated four hermeneutic channels which are actively used in law. Betty believes in objectivism in interpretation, especially in the interpretation of legal texts, and sees hermeneutics as a general way of understanding the humanities and social sciences. In this respect he is influenced by Delta and Schleiermacher, so he can be considered as one of the thinkers of the Romantic Movement like his predecessors. Of course, it is natural for these thinkers to differ in their opinions. Betty formulated rules for the objective understanding of texts. They include hermeneutic independence, generality and coherence, the reality of perception and the law of hermeneutic correspondence of meaning (law of the adequacy of perception). An objective interpretation of the texts can be achieved by applying these laws and preconditions such as not accepting petrification, lack of interest in other cultures, etc,. His four hermeneutic laws, which according to the dynamics of the interpretive process, are two laws governing the mental dimension and the other two laws related to the objective dimension. The main concern of this article is to conduct a comparative reading between the four mentioned laws and some rules of ʿIlm al-Uṣūl (jurisprudential theories). The discussion is hermeneutic and based on library resources. The conclusion reached by this article is that the four laws and some of the rules of the ʿIlm al-Uṣū can be aligned with each other and they can help complement each other, and therefore they may be used in the interpretation of religious texts.
